Where it all started

My name is Christine Carter and like many of you I've battled with my weight for most of my adult life. I've tried many, many diets, but finally a few years ago my weight started creeping up and up and I just couldn't face another diet, I decided that I needed to do something different and changed my whole approach to eating and the weight came off.

Changing habits for the better

I discovered that I had developed some eating patterns that were not helping my weight loss, I also had emotions attached to food at certain times of the day or week and after developing an awareness to what was going on, I was able to make the necessary changes. I realised that every time I ate, I was making a choice and that it was up to me to continue or stop, I become mindful which changed my whole way of thinking about food.

Once I found this worked I tried it out on friends who were successful too and then I decided I wanted to help and empower as many people as possible to stop dieting as a way to lose weight, do away with the guilt and stop dieting once and for all. and I'm happy to say that it has had a positive impact on many people (please see just a few testimonials below).


I had an unhealthy addition to chocolate and other sweet things, which was really starting to control my life. I wasn't sure at first whether Don't Say Diet would be able to help me as I wasn't actually overweight. However Christine showed me that I didn't need to deprive myself of sweet treats completely, I just needed to pay more attention to my feelings which were causing the cravings. Thank you Christine!

Like so many people my weight has always yo-yo’d, unfortunately the older I’ve got the more the weight has yo-yo’d in the wrong direction. Having tried many diets and fads, you know you lose a bit feel good about yourself for a while and then end up heavier than you were when you started.

A friend of mine suggested that I come along for a Don’t Say Diet talk and see what I thought. There was no “hard sell” just a group of people discussing their various diet experiences/disasters and how they felt. Christine showed us techniques of how to think about food differently.

I went away and thought about it for a while (put on a bit more weight) and decided hey what have I got to lose. Needless to say I am very glad I did as I am happy to report that I have successfully lost 20lbs and 16 inches without ever feeling hungry or feeling that I was missing out on food.

I not stopping here though still got a bit more to go. Christine is now teaching me how to accept compliments it’s not something that I’ve had to worry about before !!!


Christine is fantastic! I’ve been on many diets which have worked but the weight has always come back on. Since seeing Christine a few months ago I am proud to say I have lost 18 pounds and the weight has stayed off without much effort at all! And the best thing is Ive not had to go on any diets! Since starting Don’t Say Diet in January 2013 I have so far lost 3 stone, my whole attitude towards food has changed and I feel fantastic about my weight loss. I had struggled with my weight since I was about 15 and tried every diet going with no long term results it would always only last a month or two before I went back to old habits or had a blow out because I felt so deprived.

With Don’t Say Diet I can still go out for lovely meals and enjoy desserts I don’t feel isolated from my social life, with Christine teaching me her Don't Say Diet techniques I know how to incorporate my lifestyle into my weight loss. I have found it so easy to change my eating habits and I don't feel like I'm on a diet at all, it’s not a diet it's a new way of thinking!! Food no longer controls me I am in control I don’t ever feel guilty or deprived around food and it feels great!!!


I have found this to be the best way of losing weight and changing my whole attitude to eating. I have lost a stone in one month and don't feel that I have denied myself anything it's great and more important it works!


When I heard about Don't Say Diet I thought, here we go again, another diet that won't work. I was wrong. I have tried several weight loss programmes and lost the odd pound, put it back on, lost it again, you know the routine. I only wanted to lose a few pounds. I exercise regularly and watch what I eat but have been struggling to lose and maintain any weight loss for a while. Sticking to the principles of DSD, I lost 5.5lb in week 1, and 2lb week 2 and seem to be keeping it off.


I first attended a Don't Say Diet session with Christine back in March after a long chat with a friend who recommended the approach. I had been planning on joining weight watchers or slimming world AGAIN as I was getting married in August and needed help loosing my extra weight but don't say diet seemed like a better option as I always gave up on these diets after a week or two. I emailed Christine and had an appointment later that week.

At first I thought it all seemed to good to be true, I could eat whatever I fancied as long as I stopped when I was full. My first week went really well and the food diary helped me keep track of what I liked eating and certain patterns emerged. I swapped my usual sugary drinks for water and that week I lost 3lbs and couldn't believe it had actually worked with very little change to my usual diet. Not every week was as easy. I didn't trust myself or the diet and therefore tried to resist what my body and Christine were trying to tell me. It took a while but finally I was able to leave food on the plate without a second thought.

The sessions with Christine were very calming and gave me time to think about how I saw myself and why I used food to cover my emotions. Christine was always positive even when my weight loss slowed down. She regularly took my measurements which helped because I could feel and see changes even if they weren't showing on the scales. This kept me motivated and after the meditation sessions I continued to visit Christine fortnightly for a weigh in and chat about things. I felt at ease with her and always came out feeling energised for the next week.

On my wedding day I felt amazing and so proud that I had managed to loose weight and change my attitude towards food. It may have been a long and slow process but it was definitely worth it. I believe don't say diet has changed my whole attitude towards dieting and even after my two week, all inclusive honeymoon I only put on 2lbs.

My favourite Don't Say Diet tips:

Use a smaller plate for evening meals

Eat food you enjoy

Keep a jug of water handy (I'm sure this benefitted my skin also!)

Exercise doesn't have to be hard...a walk will do. Anything is better than nothing.

Don't worry about leaving food. Either way it will go to waste.

Have treats but only eat half

It wasn't until I wrote this down that it hit me what a journey it was! I can't thank you enough for sticking with me, even when It was slow. Because of you I can look at my wedding and honeymoon pictures and smile so THANK YOU.
